CannAssist saves a doctor’s office time and money, while at the same time addressing patient needs.
The CannAssist system was built to comply with the HIPAA guidelines as a “safe harbor” for storing patient information. CannAssist staff monitors system security and stays abreast of HIPAA regulations. The system is maintained and updated to ensure the integrity and safety of all sensitive personal health information and other sensitive data.
Individual doctors, and clinics that represent more than one doctor are eligible for registration. Participating physicians must have an active license in good status with the California State Medical Board, and submit documentation for identity verification.

How it works:
- Participating medical doctors receive numbered CannAssist ID stickers. These stickers will be affixed to the original medical cannabis recommendation letter by yourself or your staff.
- Next, a new patient entry is made in your CannAssist account, and the CannAssist ID number is therby activated.
- Now the CannAssist ID is ready for patient use.
- Instructions on the CannAssist ID sticker explain how to access the e-medical record online.
- When a patient arrives at a new dispensary location the intake staff will log-in to access the CannAssist system; next they will input the patient’s Cannassist ID number. The system processes the query and only an exact match will result in a confirmed verification, otherwise the verification is denied.
